The Tata Punch has emerged as the second highest-selling SUV in the country, following the Nexon compact SUV by the company. It falls into the micro SUV category and competes with the Maruti Suzuki Ignis and the Hyundai Exeter, with the Punch leading in sales in the micro SUV segment.

Tata Motors has enhanced the appeal of the Punch by integrating all its variants with a digital instrument cluster to make the driving experience more enjoyable and engaging for customers. The lower variants have been seen with a 4-inch digital screen that provides information such as trip meter, odometer, speed time, and warning lights, while the top variant (Creative) retains a 7-inch part-digital instrument cluster. However, there is no confirmation regarding a price increase with the digital instrument cluster.

With this feature, the Punch could pose a tougher competition for the Hyundai Exeter, which already has a 4.2-inch MID digital instrument cluster as standard. The Hyundai micro SUV Exeter is priced between 6 lakh to 10.15 lakh rupees, while the Tata Punch is priced between 6 to 10.10 lakh rupees (ex-showroom).

The Punch is powered by a 1.2-liter petrol engine with a CNG option, producing 86 PS and 113 Nm on petrol and 77 PS and 97 Nm on CNG. It comes with a 5-speed manual and an AMT gearbox for petrol and only a 5-speed manual gearbox for CNG.

The Punch is equipped with a 7.0-inch touchscreen system, automatic AC, automatic headlights and wipers, cruise control, dual front airbags, EBD, ABS, and a rear parking camera, making it a feature-packed offering in its segment.
