Success Story: In a remarkable achievement, Shivraj Singh Pachai from the serene town of Munsiyari in Pithoragarh district has emerged as the all-India topper in the 2023 National Defense Academy (NDA) examination. This outstanding performance was the result of an examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on 16th April 2023.
Shivraj’s feat isn’t just a personal triumph, but it has brought immense joy and pride to the entire Pithoragarh region. Residents of Munsiyari have been celebrating his success, as he secured the highest marks, establishing himself as the number one candidate in the entire nation.

Shivraj’s foundation was nurtured by his father, Bhagat Singh Pachai, who is the headmaster of the Government Higher Primary School in Dhapa. His mother, a devoted housewife, has also been a pillar of strength and encouragement for him.
Shivraj’s educational journey began in Primary School, Munsiyari. It was there that he first showcased his dedication and passion for academics. His academic pursuits then led him to Sainik School, Ghorakhal, Nainital, where he completed his 12th standard. The disciplined environment and rigorous training at the Sainik School no doubt played a pivotal role in preparing him for the challenging NDA examination.
