Mahindra’s SUV Production Surge: What It Means for Buyers

Mahindra & Mahindra, one of India’s leading automobile manufacturers, has announced its intentions to ramp up its monthly production capacity to approximately 49,000 units by the end of this year. The move is already in motion and aims to cater to the soaring demand for its SUVs.

One of the key reasons for this increase is the long waiting period on some of the company’s flagship SUV models. Vehicles like the Scorpio-N, Scorpio Classic, XUV700, and Thar have witnessed substantial waiting times due to high demand. With the planned increase in production, the waiting period for these models is expected to reduce considerably.

Currently, the Mahindra Scorpio-N offers the shortest waiting period for its Z8L petrol and diesel automatic variants, ranging from 1-3 months. On the other hand, the Scorpio Classic S and S11 variants have a waiting period of about 4 months.

For those eyeing the Mahindra XUV700, the waiting times vary by model. The AX5 petrol and diesel variants have a 3-month wait, while the AX7 variant has a waiting period extending to 5 months. The AX7L petrol and diesel versions command a 6-month waiting period.

Lastly, the rugged Mahindra Thar sees a significant wait time, especially for its 4X2 variants, which have a waiting period of 15-16 months. The 4X4 petrol and diesel versions, however, have a more manageable 5-6 month wait.

If you’re planning to buy a new Mahindra SUV, it’s vital to be informed about these waiting periods. However, with the company’s increased production capacity, these waiting times might soon see a downward trend.
