The festive season has ushered in some good news for central government employees. The central administration has recently declared a non-productivity linked bonus for the financial year 2022-23. This announcement covers non-gazetted employees falling under both Group B and Group C categories. The bonus amounts to the equivalent of one month’s salary for these employees.

It’s notable that even those in Group B and Group C who are non-gazetted will receive this bonus. This includes employees who aren’t part of any productivity-linked bonus schemes. Furthermore, members of the paramilitary forces, along with temporary or adhoc employees, are also beneficiaries of this generous bonus initiative.

The bonus calculation is based on an employee’s average salary, up to a specified maximum limit. Essentially, the monthly bonus would approximate an employee’s monthly wage. For instance, if an employee earns 18,000 rupees, their bonus for 30 days would be approximately 17,763 rupees. This calculation is derived from a formula: 7000 multiplied by 30, divided by 30.4, which equals 17,763.15 rupees.

Eligibility for this bonus extends to those central government employees who remain in service until March 31, 2023, and have served continuously for a minimum of six months during the fiscal year 2022-23. Even those appointed on an adhoc basis as temporary employees stand to gain from this bonus. However, it’s crucial that there are no breaks in their service during this period.
