Hyundai recently announced that the government’s requirement for vehicles to have six airbags will not be implemented. Many car companies expressed their objections to the government’s order to install six airbags in every car, stating that it would increase the vehicle prices. In recent years, car safety has become a central issue, and companies are striving to provide more safety features.

Hyundai announced on Tuesday that all vehicles sold in India will come with standard six airbags. The company’s mid-level sedan, “Verna,” also received a 5-star safety rating in the Global NCAP test.

Tarun Garg, Chief Operating Officer of Hyundai India, stated that the company is working hard on safety. The company has decided to send three cars to the Indian NCAP. Seat belt reminder and 3-point seat belt have also been made standard on all seats. The company has also expanded the ADAS and tire pressure monitoring systems.

In the Indian NCAP, Verna became Hyundai’s first 5-star car in India, while earlier, the organization had already awarded a 5-star rating to Volkswagen Vento and Skoda Rapid in the same segment. Currently, Tata and Mahindra have more 5-star rated cars in India compared to any other manufacturer. We are yet to see the performance of Indian cars in the BNCAP.

Car safety has become a top priority for both customers and car manufacturers. With more stringent standards and the demand for advanced safety features, it is encouraging to see companies like Hyundai taking the lead in providing safer vehicles to the Indian market. As car buyers, it is essential to prioritize safety and choose vehicles that meet the necessary safety standards.
