In a significant move to enhance connectivity and infrastructure in Ghazipur, Union Road and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has sanctioned a substantial amount of Rs 1706.41 crore for the first phase of the Green Field Expressway. This project, a crucial segment of National Highway-31, will stretch from Hridaypur to Shahpur, seamlessly linking Ghazipur-Ballia to Bihar.

The expressway will feature two primary routes; one extending from Karimuddinpur in the district towards Ballia, and the other connecting to Buxar, Bihar via Bharauli.

This development comes after the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) had previously allocated Rs 500 crore for land acquisition in the Ballia and Ghazipur districts, paving the way for the district administration to commence the declaration process.

During this phase, the administration encountered around 400 objections. However, these were addressed as the Revenue Department diligently prepared the Joint Measurement Survey Report and forwarded it to UPEDA for further action.

In a related development, Minister Gadkari on Thursday also approved an additional financial package of Rs 618 crore specifically for the Greenfield Expressway segment connecting Buxar.

This segment, which spans a length of 17 km in Uttar Pradesh, is expected to be completed within two years. Once operational, it will provide a direct link between Patna and Lucknow, significantly reducing travel time and boosting economic activities in the region.

These initiatives represent a major leap forward in the government’s commitment to improving the transportation infrastructure in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

The Green Field Expressway project, once completed, is poised to play a pivotal role in enhancing regional connectivity, fostering economic growth, and improving the overall quality of life for the residents of these areas.
