It's tooth freezing to hear an American president speak openly well about probability of nuclear "Armageddon," as Joe Biden did on Thursday. 

Biden's comments at a crowdfunding event in New York can really result in congressional opposition accusing him of talking inanely regarding nuclear war.

And, regardless of whether they intended for public ingestion or not, his remarks could have the effect of signalling to Putin that any utilization of nuclear weapons is unacceptable.

Biden's remarks also demonstrate that, in one way, Putin's nuclear threats had already worked: those who have left his opponents uncertain of how he will respond.
