India’s interest in off-roading vehicles is increasing consistently, with a large number of people purchasing cars in this segment.

However, there are still many customers who are unable to decide which car to purchase. This is where the details of the Thar and Jimny come into play.

Recently, Maruti Suzuki has launched the Thunder Edition of the Jimny, which has enhanced its already impressive look.

The Thunder Edition is priced 2 lakh rupees lower than the standard variant of the Maruti Jimny, making it a formidable competition for the Mahindra Thar’s 4×2 RWD variant.

The Maruti Jimny Thunder Edition is a promising option in the off-roading SUV segment, similar to the Mahindra Thar, which is also a popular choice. Both these cars are built for off-roading, designed to be driven through mountains and forests. Let’s take a look at the features of these cars.

In terms of the engine, the Maruti Jimny comes with a 1.5-liter 4-cylinder engine with a choice of a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission. It generates 103bhp power and 134nm peak torque.

On the other hand, the Mahindra Thar offers both petrol and diesel engine options, with a 2-liter turbo petrol engine delivering 150bhp power and 320 Nm torque in the petrol version, and the diesel version providing 117bhp power and 300 Nm torque.

In terms of price, the ex-showroom price of the Mahindra Thar ranges from 10.98 lakh rupees to 13.77 lakh rupees, while the Jimny Thunder Edition is slightly cheaper. However, the engine specifications show that the Mahindra Thar is still ahead of the Jimny.

The Thunder Edition of the Maruti Jimny has been launched with a discount of 2 lakh rupees on the Zeta variant and 1 lakh rupees on the Alpha variant. The ex-showroom price of the car ranges from 10.87 lakh rupees to 14.05 lakh rupees.

The off-roading segment in India is witnessing a lot of exciting developments with the launch of the Maruti Jimny Thunder Edition and the ongoing popularity of the Mahindra Thar. These vehicles are not only built for off-roading but also offer powerful engine options to cater to the demands of the customers.
