Royal Enfield is set to discontinue the Himalayan 411 model in India in the coming weeks. However, the Scrambler 411 variant will continue to be sold. The Himalayan 411 has been credited with popularizing the adventure off-road segment in the domestic market since its launch in 2016.

Over the years, Royal Enfield has actively updated and improved the motorcycle to make it more capable and comfortable. Currently, it is considered one of the most comfortable touring motorcycles in the market, offering excellent features. The new dual-purpose adventure tourer, the Himalayan 450, was introduced in March 2022 and has received positive feedback from customers both in India and overseas.

Royal Enfield, based in Chennai, will not discontinue the Scrambler 411 variant and its price ranges from INR 2.06 lakh to INR 2.12 lakh (ex-showroom). The Himalayan 411 is priced between INR 2.16 lakh and INR 2.28 lakh (ex-showroom). The upcoming Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 is expected to be priced at around INR 2.75 lakh (ex-showroom) due to its enhanced features and premium equipment.

The Himalayan 450 is slightly lighter, longer, and wider than the Himalayan 411, but it has a smaller engine displacement of 411cc. It offers a ground clearance of 230mm and better water-wading capabilities thanks to its improved packaging. Additionally, it is equipped with a linkage-type rear mono-shock suspension. It features Royal Enfield’s torquey single-cylinder engine.

Furthermore, the Himalayan 450 comes with a longer wheelbase, a larger 17-liter fuel tank, and wider rear tires. The Himalayan 411 is powered by a 411cc air-cooled engine, producing a maximum power output of 24.3 bhp at 6,500 rpm and a peak torque of 32 Nm at 4,500 rpm. It is mated to a five-speed transmission.

The Himalayan 450 takes a forward-thinking approach to design compared to the Himalayan 411. It comes with a 43mm upside-down front fork, 21-inch front, and 17-inch rear spoke rims, a circular TFT instrument console with turn-by-turn navigation, ride-by-wire throttle, dual riding modes, LED lighting, split seats, and luggage rack, among others.
