Skoda Kodiaq SUV: Skoda is reportedly working on a new compact SUV for the Indian market, with its debut expected next year. Skoda took charge of the India 2.0 project a few years ago and has definitely delivered on it. With high investments, the Czech automaker has introduced two completely new products. Currently, the Skoda Slavia and Kushaq are the best-selling models in Skoda’s portfolio. The company also sells the Kodiaq SUV in the market. Now, Skoda is planning to enter the most popular segment, the compact SUV, in the market.

Currently, there have been no official sketches released by Skoda. It is expected that this compact SUV will be inspired by the Kushaq and will have some design changes. It will include shark fin antenna, sunroof, LED DRLs with LED headlights, auto climate control, a 2-spoke steering wheel, an 8 or 10-inch infotainment screen, and a fully digital instrument cluster.

Skoda has confirmed that this product will be based on the MQB A0 IN platform, which is specifically designed for emerging markets like India and offers cost-effectiveness due to heavy localization. Initially, it is believed that this model will be offered with a 1.0-liter TSI engine paired with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter and later, a performance-oriented version with a 1.5-liter TSI and DSG could be introduced.

We know that the MQB A0 IN platform is highly localized and yet it has succeeded in achieving an impressive 5-star safety rating in global NCAP crash tests, so you can be assured that it will be a safe car. In addition, we expect this model to come with a range of driver assistance features including adaptive cruise control, auto emergency braking, lane keep assist, lane change alert, blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and more.

It is expected that the price of this compact SUV will start from around 8.5-9 lakhs (ex-showroom). We have no solid updates from Skoda, so we hope that it will be launched by the end of next year or in 2025. Skoda’s compact SUV will compete with the Mahindra XUV300, Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Kia Sonet, Renault Kiger, and Nissan Magnite.

Skoda will launch its fourth-generation Superb model by the end of 2023. As for the India launch, the German carmaker has confirmed that it will first reintroduce the existing generation model. The Octavia sedan will also make a comeback in the Indian market.
