The video, which was uploaded on social media on Tuesday evening, depicted a sedan car traveling in the opposite direction on the expressway. An observant user noted down the car’s registration number and urged the police to take action. Consequently, the traffic police issued a challan (fine) amounting to seven thousand rupees, and a copy of the challan has been uploaded on the user’s social media account. The Deputy Inspector General of Traffic confirmed that this action was taken based on the viral video.

In recent times, there have been several accidents on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway, prompting increased police vigilance. Just last July, a tragic incident resulted in the loss of six lives from a single family. This accident occurred due to the negligence of a bus driver who was driving in the wrong direction on the expressway.

Furthermore, a mere ten days ago, a high-speed bus on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway lost control, collided with the divider, and plunged off the road, resulting in at least 18 people sustaining injuries. The bus, en route from Meerut to Delhi, was traveling at a high speed when it suddenly veered off its path. This incident took place within the jurisdiction of the Masuri police station. Promptly responding to the information, the police ensured that the injured passengers were immediately transported to the nearest hospital for medical treatment.

In light of these incidents, the police have become increasingly vigilant on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway, aiming to enforce traffic regulations rigorously and prevent accidents resulting from violations like wrong-way driving.
