Bajaj Chetak: Bajaj Auto has officially announced a special offer for its electric scooter Chetak. The price of the Chetak in the states of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka has been reduced by approximately Rs. 16,000 for buyers. This attractive new price makes the Chetak cost Rs. 1.15 lakh (ex-showroom). However, this special price is valid only until stocks last.
Customers in Chennai and Bengaluru have the option to purchase the Chetak with the aforementioned special offer through Amazon. Bajaj reintroduced the Chetak as an electric scooter towards the end of 2019 and initially sold it in four dealerships in Pune and thirteen outlets in Bengaluru.
The Chetak has received great praise from consumers in recent times due to its iconic design. While borrowing styling cues from the original Chetak, it incorporates modern electric powertrain technology. Its feature list includes an all-digital instrument cluster, LED headlamps with a DRL horseshoe-shaped DRL, single-piece seat, and alloy wheels.
Other key attractions of the electric scooter include a beltless solid gear drive, LED turn indicators, keyless function, intelligent BMS (Battery Management System), and combined braking system. The Chetak is powered by a 3.8 kW electric motor and a 3 kW battery pack with an IP67 water-resistant rating. It claims a driving range of over 95 km on a single charge and comes with two ride modes.
Charging the battery from 0 to 100 percent is claimed to take about four hours. The Chetak features a front suspension with a monoshock rear suspension and utilizes a double-sided swingarm like the current model, along with multi-spoke alloy wheels and a mid-mounted motor for testing purposes. It remains to be seen if the production-ready variant will stay the same or undergo any changes.
