The 5-Door Mahindra Thar is expected to offer a more premium interior compared to its 3-Door model. Mahindra is currently working on several new models for the domestic market. In the coming weeks, the sales of the Bolero Neo Plus are expected to commence, while the facelifted XUV300 and the 5-Door Thar will arrive next year. The Mahindra XUV.e8 is also set to be launched in late 2024.

Based on the latest pictures, it appears that the cabin of the 5-Door Thar will be more advanced compared to its 3-Door sibling. Both lifestyle off-road SUVs will have several similarities, but there are also some notable differences. For example, it features a new multifunctional flat-bottom steering wheel that can be taken from the XUV700.

The interior may come with a theme of blue and black colors, while new armrests, multiple storage spaces, and cup holders enhance practicality and functionality. The floating touchscreen infotainment system borrowed from the XUV700 may replace the seven-inch unit found in the 3-Door Thar, and it will also feature wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

The HVAC control switches, seats, their finish, and door pads can be taken a step further compared to the 3-Door Thar. The larger Thar will likely be based on a ladder-frame chassis shared with the Scorpio and will have a longer wheelbase compared to the 3-Door model.

It is expected to offer more space for the occupants as well as increased boot space. It will be powered by the familiar 2.0-liter four-cylinder mStallion petrol and 2.2-liter four-cylinder mHawk diesel engines and will be paired with a standard six-speed manual transmission.

A six-speed torque converter automatic transmission will be an option. The 5-Door Mahindra Thar will compete against the five-door Maruti Suzuki Jimny and the upcoming 5-Door Gurkha. Its launch is expected in the first quarter of next year.
