In a world where many give in to the vagaries of life, IAS Pranjal Patil stands as a resolute beacon of determination and hope. Without the gift of sight but equipped with a vision far-reaching, she scripted a tale that redefines success on her own terms.

A Pioneering Achievement:

Pranjal Patil is not just any IAS officer; she is a symbol of sheer willpower. Even without the ability to see, she leveraged technology, specifically software designed for the visually impaired, to crack the UPSC examinations. Notably, she achieved this monumental feat without attending any coaching classes. This accomplishment led her to etch her name in history as India’s first blind IAS officer.

Early Life Struggles:

Born in Ulhasnagar, Maharashtra, life threw Pranjal a curveball at a tender age of 6 when she lost her eyesight. But where many would have seen an insurmountable challenge, she saw an opportunity to rise. And rise she did, against all odds.

Educational Endeavors:

Beginning her academic journey at the Kamla Mehta Dadar School for the Blind in Mumbai, Pranjal exhibited early signs of academic excellence. She later pursued a graduation in Political Science from the renowned St. Xavier’s College. With an insatiable thirst for knowledge, she then moved to the nation’s capital, obtaining a postgraduate degree in International Relations from the eminent Jawaharlal Nehru University. But she didn’t stop there; Pranjal furthered her academic pursuits by completing her PhD and M.Phil.

UPSC Journey:

Her first attempt at the prestigious UPSC Civil Services Examination in 2016 saw her securing the 744th rank. While this was a commendable feat in itself, Pranjal aimed higher. With an unwavering spirit, she appeared for the examination again in 2017, dramatically improving her rank to an astounding 124th All India position.
