Ather Energy is working on developing new scooters to expand its electric vehicle range. The company may introduce two completely new models by the end of the next fiscal year, although it may take at least three years to enter the electric motorcycle market. Recently, Ather Energy unveiled the 450S variant, indicating that the 450 series is about to receive more new variants. According to leaked documents, Ather Energy may launch the new 450S HR and 450S LR models, and they could be launched in India soon. Additional new battery packs may also be added to the lineup based on the leaked circular document.

The Ather 450S HR can be positioned above the current 450S based on the battery pack. The current 450S uses a 2.9 kWh battery pack, and if the 450S HR comes with a larger battery pack, it will definitely help expand the 450S lineup. Ather currently sells the 450X with 2.9 kWh and 3.7 kWh battery packs.

Ather electric scooters are known for their good performance features and compete against electric scooters sold by Bajaj Auto, TVS, Ola, and others. With new investments from Hero MotoCorp and a Singapore-based funding firm, the company plans to expand its footprint by adding more touchpoints across the country.

The subsidy cut in FAME subsidy has affected its profitability as the losses have increased by 2.5 times in the previous fiscal year. Ather has reported a loss of INR 864.5 crore in the fiscal year 2022-23, compared to INR 344.1 crore in the previous fiscal year.
