Tom Cruise is memorizing his late advocate and friend, Bert Fields... and telling an amazing story about how they encountered.
The 'Top Gun' actor filmed a video message for Bert's memorial ceremony, disclosing how he met Bert for the very first time at a formal dinner with Dustin Hoffman.
Tom claims he was seated beside Bert and they struck up a conversation. Bert was among the most interesting people Tom had ever encountered, and it didn't take long for Tom to start noticing stuff different regarding him.
The discussion was just so interesting, according to Tom, that they discussed history and exchanged stories. Bert informed Tom that he was Dustin's lawyer, and Tom decided to hire him right away.
The video clip is quite emotional, with Tom clarifying how this made Bert a really great person to be with.
Bert clearly had a significant impact on Tom's life, not only as his lawyer.
The news was first reported by TMZ Website... Bert passed away in August after a brilliant career that included clients such as Michael Jackson, James Cameron, Warren Beatty, Mike Nichols, Jeffrey Katzenberg, David Geffen, Jerry Bruckheimer, The Beatles, and Madonna, to recognise a very few.
Bert filed several high-profile litigation on Tom's behalf, such as a $100 million suit in 2001 after an article falsely claimed Cruise was gay, citing an X-rated video as evidence.
