Go First Airline, grappling with a financial crisis, has recently revealed a startling situation in the Delhi High Court. The Resolution Professional (RP) of the airline filed an affidavit highlighting the ongoing challenges, including the mass absenteeism of its employees.
Affidavit Details in High Court
The affidavit presented in the Delhi High Court sheds light on the drastic reduction in the workforce and the absenteeism issue. Initially, the airline had around 4621 employees. However, as of October 10, 2023, this number has plummeted to approximately 2278.
The Contempt Petition Issue
The RP’s affidavit also addresses the issue of a contempt petition filed against the airline. According to the affidavit, this petition is not rooted in good faith. Instead, it’s alleged to be a strategic move aimed at delaying and undermining the final decisions in the ongoing writ petitions.
Financial Struggles and Employee Salaries
The airline’s financial struggles are evident from the payment patterns of employee salaries. After the commencement of the Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process (CIRP) on May 10, 2023, the interim Resolution Professional (IRP) utilized the existing funds to pay the salaries for May 2023.
