The motorcycle enthusiasts’ world buzzed with excitement as the KTM 2024 Duke 390 made its debut recently. This new addition to the KTM family has been subjected to a plethora of tests, but perhaps none as eagerly anticipated as the real-life mileage test. Riders have a penchant for pushing bikes to their limits, and the Duke 390 is no exception, often being ridden at full throttle. Our assessment, therefore, was conducted at peak speeds to provide a genuine account of what future owners might expect.

Boasting a robust 399cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine, the KTM 2024 Duke 390 is a powerhouse, churning out 45bhp at 8,500 RPM and 39nm torque at 6,500 RPM. It’s complemented by a six-speed gearbox paired with a slipper clutch, enhancing the riding experience with smooth transitions. The bike comes with a 13.5-liter fuel tank and maintains a lightweight design at 157 kg, with a seat height of 820nm, making it accessible for a wide range of riders. Its showroom price is set at 3,11,000, which shows a modest increase from the previous model launched in 2023.

During our rigorous testing, the Duke 390 was run at top speeds ranging from 100 to 165 km/h. The results were impressive; the motorcycle consumed 2.5 liters of petrol over 56.7 kilometers, yielding a mileage of 22.68 km/l at these high speeds. It’s a testament to the bike’s engineering that it can deliver such efficiency even when pushed to its limits. Under regular driving conditions, one could easily extract an average mileage of around 30 to 35 km/l, making it a viable option for both thrill-seekers and everyday commuters.

Speed is another domain where the Duke 390 shines brightly. Our tests showed that it could accelerate from 0 to 60 km/h in just 2.50 seconds, and reaching 100 km/h took only 5.57 seconds. The bike’s ability to hit 120 km/h was achieved in 8.11 seconds, and it stormed through to 150 km/h in 16.43 seconds, proving that this machine isn’t just about fuel economy—it’s built for speed as well.

We are eager to hear your thoughts on our findings. Do you find the mileage test and the performance of the KTM 2024 Duke 390 as exhilarating as we do?
