In a remarkable turn of events that could either be termed as nature’s marvel or simply a twist of fate, a boy, who was presumed to have drowned in the sea during the immersion of a Ganesh idol, resurfaced, very much alive, leaving everyone in awe.
The Incident in Surat, Gujarat
The astonishing event unfolded in Surat, Gujarat, the home state of Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. A 14-year-old boy, a fifth-grade student named Lakhan Devipujak, had ventured to the Dumas beach to witness the immersion of Ganesh idols. Unfortunately, he got carried away by the waves and drowned. Despite the family’s exhaustive search efforts, he remained untraceable. The family, heartbroken, had almost come to terms with the tragic loss, believing that they would never see him again.
However, in an almost miraculous development, Lakhan returned home alive, leaving his family overjoyed and everyone else astounded. The story he relayed about his survival was nothing short of extraordinary.
The Miracle at Sea
As Lakhan began to drown, he stumbled upon a Ganesh idol submerged in the water. Clinging to this idol for what might have felt like an eternity, he managed to stay afloat for nearly 24 hours. The alert fishermen rescued the boy, who at that point was approximately 22 kilometers away from the shore.

Upon his rescue, Lakhan was immediately transported to the Dhuali port in Navsari. From there, he was rushed to a nearby hospital via an ambulance, where he received medical treatment. Given the extraordinary circumstance of surviving more than a day at sea, his story left everyone, including medical professionals, in sheer amazement.

The Navsari police confirmed that this bewildering incident took place on the 29th of September. The boy’s improbable survival, after spending such an extended period in the open sea, has rendered this event memorable for the residents of Surat and beyond.
